3D Printers Create Edible Objects

I know this isn't a NY Times article but I found it interesting so I'm just going with it.  You can find CBC news article here.

Apparently Cornell University is experimenting with 3D printing food materials as decoration on high-end plates.  It looks like the technology is still pretty raw because the actual prints look pretty messy.  They are working on advancements and I'm sure they will come out with some impressive stuff soon.  In the mean time, it's just really neat to see how the RP technology is branching out.

Sprues

Here are some images of two of my flasks prior to investing (proof that they existed in case my casting goes awry).  The third flask is incomplete and I think I am going to do vacuum cast that one for the experience.

Carving Wax Fun

I've really gotten into my carving wax figure today.  I had used the band saw to rough out the shape last week but I went back in with a spiral saw blade to give it a little more definition.  Then I used my fabulous new wax burs to really get in there and chunk away at my intended shape.  I really feel good about it now.  I couldn't really see my vision before I used the burs but now I'm excited!
